Meatball's Journey

As I'm used to drawing already existing characters and working off of scripts by someone else, I'm proud to say that no other work in this gallery has my name written all over them more than this. The idea, the characters (aside from Leonardo and Foot soldier), the execution is all me from top to bottom. Even the style of drawing is that "what comes the easiest for me" type we all have. It's more about storytelling than fine illustrating. And it's possibly the only thing I've ever done that can be read both figuratively and literally. Whether it's good or not, someone else will be the judge of that. But I'm fond of it.
This is a remake of a short (so called) manga comic I did back in the day. It doesn't feature the typical manga style illustration with enormous eyes and androgynous characters, but it is a comic that's more about mood than plot, which is what my then-teacher emphasized when I did it.
Looking at the old version [link] you can notice how wobbly my brush lines used to be. Not only that, I couldn't stand my lack of attention to detail anymore either. In addition to richer backgrounds I now added, I always wanted the meatball placed exactly at the same spot in each panel.

Also, if anyone happens to read this comic, feel free to share any interpretation. I'm curious to know what others get from it.
